About me

Born in Poland, but bilingual: my mother's tongue is Russian, my "father's" tongue - Polish. Very early I felt in love with France and it continues. Later on, I understood that French and Russian were not enough to fully realize my traveling plans, I started to learn English, and thus a curiosity and desire to know more about the Anglo-Saxon culture appeared. And so, step by step, I enlarge my knowledge and visit more and more places around the world. Since I am a Taurus (read: consequent, accurate, responsible, timely), I am persistent enough to explore and solve both the language and cultural problems, and I hope that with the help of four languages I can realize my travel plans.

Qualifications

I am a professional translator of Russian and French. Since 1984, I have the title of certified translator in both languages, validated in 2005 by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland.

Education

I graduated from the Institute of Foreign Languages in Moscow with the Master's degree in French and Russian translation.

Experience

Involved in translation from 1981. i.e since the completion of studies.

In 1981 - 1990, I worked for a foreign trade company, first as a Russian language translator (medical and laboratory equipment, textile, printing and furniture), later on as Import Manager in the medical and laboratory division (in English and Russian).

Over the past 18 years, I worked at the commercial section of the South African Embassy and the agricultural office of the U.S. Embassy, where I:

- performed translations of correspondence, advertising materials, specifications, contracts, press articles, laws, regulations, transport documents, health certificates;

- organized trainings and scientific exchange, accompanied study groups to the U.S. as a logistic and linguistic help;

- prepared reports on the situation in different market sectors.

From November 2008, I resumed my private translation activity.

Recently I translated for Bauer Publishing and BDN Ltd., the U.S. Embassy, BestTest, Intertext, Wolfox, Eurolingua, Dometic, Euro Text, as well as individuals.

Interests

Russian and French literature and culture, tourism, the national cuisine, enology, design and sewing of garments.
